Main Agro-Ecological Structure: An Index for Evaluating Agro-Biodiversity in Agro-Ecosystems

چکیده

The agro-biodiversity present in agro-ecosystems is fundamental guaranteeing sustainability and resilience. However, there are very few approaches for evaluating it and, even less, ones that include indicators to analyze the influence of structural spatial configuration a landscape order favor connectivity productive systems. There also no proposals management conservation practices, producer (farmer)’s perceptions, awareness ability on their farm. Main Agro-ecological Structure (MAS) new proposed index describe agro-ecosystems, including these topics comprising 10 criteria 29 indicators. Connection with main ecological structure (CMESL), extension external connectors (EEC), diversity (DEC), internal (EIC), (DIC), land use (LU), practices (PM), (CP), perception, knowledge (PAK) action capacity (AC) make up index. Methodologies its evaluation described, possibility adapting certain according cultural contexts where farms located discussed. relating agro-biodiversity, evaluated using index, other agro-system attributes or properties would allow one consider importance multidimensional farms, thought be greatest advantage application.

An Agro-ecological Simulation Model System

• Abstract. In this paper five different models, as five modules of a complex agro-ecosystem are investigated. The water and nutrient flow in soil is simulated by the nutrient-in-soil model while the biomass change according to the seasonal weather aspects, the nutrient content of soil and the biotic interactions amongst the other terms of the food web are simulated by the food web population d...

Complex agro-ecosystems for food security in a changing climate

Attempts to increase food crop yields by intensifying agricultural systems using high inputs of nonrenewable resources and chemicals frequently lead to de-gradation of natural resources, whereas most technological innovations are not accessible for smallholders that represent the majority of farmers world wide. Alternatively, cocultures consisting of assemblages of plant and animal species can ...
